How I made $147 my first month of blogging

Let me start by saying that Mom on Quack is the third time I have created a blog. The first 2 blogs never got off the ground, I did not start them the correct way. I have always known that I LOVE to write, but it literally took me years to figure out what I enjoyed writing about. So that’s your first step in your blogging adventure… Read on to learn how to make money while you sleep by starting a blog!

If you want to Make money while you sleep by starting a blog, figure out what you are passionate enough to write about.

I have been a family chiropractor for 11 years now and my world has been health, nutrition, diet and wellness. So I don’t know what I was thinking with my first blog on gardening. I admit I enjoy gardening as a hobby, but after 3 posts I just didn’t know what else to write! My 2nd blog was all about the Keto Diet, which I am a big fan of and have been doing for years…but my blog posts were SO redundant, I literally bored myself out. Then I realized I am passionate about families, and ALL that entails.

When I realized my passion I could NOT STOP writing blog posts. That’s when I started making money with my blog

1.) So, that’s your first step in this adventure. Find something you enjoy talking (writing) about. I’d aim for jotting down at least 10 ideas for 10 different blog posts before you even consider starting your blog.

2.) Explore some website names. Nothing too long, confusing or complex. You don’t want your viewers misspelling things when trying to type in your site…that will cost you viewers. I have learned viewers land on your site and you have about 5 seconds to “catch” them before they “fly” away. Also, I’d stay away from things controversial…you can interpret that as you like.

Ok…so you have decided on a catchy and clever website name and you know what you want to blog about. Now you have to make sure your website name isn’t taken.

2. Check and see if your domain dream name is available HERE

3.) If your domain is available then  purchase through link Blue Host to get an awesome savings!!(link below as well.) and get started developing your site!

4.) Follow the prompts to set-up your WordPress blog! It is super simple! The WordPress platform is honestly just so simple to navigate.

There are alot of sites that help you develop your blog site, but after 3 blogs and 3 different website builders, word press is BY FAR the easiest and looks the most professional

5.) After you set up your wordpress blog and website hosting through Blue Host then you can start to write your posts!

THIS IS WHERE THE MONEY COMES FROM..HINT HINT. This is how you make money while you sleep by starting a blog!

6.) You can monetize your blog by adding affiliate links and ads in your posts. Basically an affiliate link has your website code in it. So when someone clicks on that affiliate link (the product you are promoting) it takes them to the product and they can buy it…and you get a commission if they purchase.

MAKING MONEY WHILE YOU SLEEP WITH AFFILIATE LINKS

Affiliate links are a wonderful way to make some passive income, but so important that you actually support the product you are recommending. I only recommend products that I myself have tried or currently use. Amazon is probably my favorite affiliate link as most of your viewers already trust Amazon and they are more likely to trust the link. Another wonderful affiliate is Sharesale. Sharesale has a huge merchant list that you can apply to and once you are accepted you can start using their links and get commissions from purchases.

Rakuten Affiliates also has a huge network of brands that you can apply to and use links, I don’t personally use Rakuten, just because I like the way Sharesale works. So i use them

Ads

Advertisments are another way to make money from your blog. I use Google Adsense and I made $15 off of it this month so far. Google ads don’t pay as well as say Mediavine, but I’m only in month 2 of my blog…you have to reach alot more page views to be accepted to Mediavine. Still most of the $147 i made in month 1 came from my affiliate links through Amazon and Sharesale. It all adds up!
